Here's a list every pet parent should have

Pets have gone from a working animal to a bonified family member over the last century. We now care about our furry-friends as much as the rest of our family, and treat them with the same loving care. This often means our pets need an army of caregivers to help us, including groomers to keep their hair and nails in check, veterinarians for medical care, and so much more.

When an emergency happens, it’s helpful to have these people on your contact list, so you know what to do in the face of an emergency. Here’s a list of who you should have a phone number for.

Veterinarians

When an emergency happens, knowing who to call is extremely important. You should have both your local clinic, as well as a 24-hour emergency vet in your contact list. If there’s an emergency you won’t waste time frantically searching the web looking for someone who is open to inform of your arrival.

Another helpful tool to have in your arsenal is Petzey. Petzey is an app that connects you with a veterinarian virtually any time, anywhere. If your dog ate something weird or your cat isn’t acting right, a digital consult is at your fingertips no matter where you are or what happened.

While a digital consult isn’t going to help you set a broken leg or stitch up a cut, it can help with a broad number of other questions you may have. It’s a great tool to have on hand, and is affordable at just $20 a visit.

Animal Control

Who do you call if there’s a loose dog roaming the area, or a wild animal viewing your beloved pets as a snack, animal control helps handle these situations. Often its better for the neighborhood to have animal control stop by the house of the person who thinks its fine to treat the whole neighborhood as their dog’s playground, instead of trying to work it out yourself.

Boarding Facilities

While taking Fido on vacation is becoming more commonplace, it’s not always possible to take them along. Boarding facilities provide a vacation for your pet while you are on vacation too. Great boarding facilities include walks and adventures for your pet, doggy daycare, and other fun activities.

If your pet loves going to boarding, save that number! You’ll be able to relax and enjoy your own vacation knowing your dog is enjoying his.

Groomers

Dogs need regular maintenance in order to keep healthy and happy. They need to be brushed, nails trimmed, and sometimes have their hair cut in order to be healthy. Without this care dogs can quickly end up with uncomfortably long nails, matted hair, or lots of itchy loose undercoat.

A groomer you trust is extremely valuable, so when you find one both you and your pets love, save that number.

Your pet requires an army of caregivers to be safe and happy. Keeping these numbers in your phone will help get them the care they need, when they need it.
