5 reasons cats make us happy
Whether you are thinking about adopting a cat, or you’ve had one for years, you may be wondering if cats make the best pets. The answer is yes, and here are five major reasons why!
1. Cats are smart. If you think that other animals, such as dogs, are smarter, think again. A dog will come on command, but a cat will consider their best interests first before agreeing to do what you want. A cat can stay quiet during the day while you’re away, while a dog barks and annoys the neighbors. Cats can more easily be trained to not randomly jump at you at all times, and can stay off specific furniture, or at least when you’re watching.
2. They don’t need daily walks. Cats are content to stay indoors during the day. You can build a safe catio for them outside your window or patio door, should they be interested in going outside. While dogs need to be walked outside a few times a day, cats can use their indoor litter boxes. This can save you a large amount of time each day, and there will never be any surprises on the floor.
3. They are warm and soft. While there are some other types of pets with soft fur, nothing wins over the soft warm fur of a cat. Even short-haired cats have nice soft fur (unless they’re a hairless breed). You can spend hours stroking your furry baby, while they purr and bond with you. They even keep you warm at night in the winter time.
4. They enjoy fun and games. Cats are more fun to play with, because you never know what to expect. Not only will you enjoy watching them having fun, but you can join in too! You roll the ball at them and they may or may not bat it back at you. You can watch them chew on their catnip toys, and whack them around the room. You can teach them to sit up for pets, and you can teach them to jump over your leg for some treats. Hiding treats around the room is fun too, as they’ll go around sniffing and trying to find them.
5. They make us laugh. Cats often act serious, then they suddenly get a case of the zoomies and run around the room for no reason. Sometimes they get into funny situations where they get stuck under the blanket, or food on their nose. It’s fun to watch them play with items that aren’t even their toys. Sometimes they get puzzled as to where the toy is, even though it’s right in front of them. They may not like it when we laugh at them, but they can certainly provide hours of entertainment for us.
You can be confident in your choice to adopt a kitten or cat. No other creature on this planet is going to provide the love, warmth, and entertainment that a cat can!
