Five things you can do with your cat
People often assume cats aren’t affectionate or active. However, cats, and your relationship with them, benefit through doing things together! Here’s 5 activities to maintain your cat’s health, while promoting bonding experiences:
Walking your Cat. It takes patience and practice starting out, but teaching your cat to walk on a leash is a safe way for your cat to experience the great outdoors.
Prey and Predator [Hide and Seek]. This style of game brings out their predatory instincts, in a productive and fun way. Hide in different spots throughout your house and “cat call” your cat. They will love the feeling of hunting, with the reward of bonding and playing with you.
Food Scavenger Hunts. Similarly to physical hide and seek, you can engage your cat in their natural drive to pursue a chase by hiding small amounts of treats or food around the house. This allows your cat to forage and find these treats with or without your direction.
Obstacle Course Playground. Foster your cat’s natural curiosity and enjoyment of investigating by using boxes to construct a recyclable playground of tunnels and levels. Hide treats or food throughout to encourage their exploration.
Bird-feeder Views. Situating a bird-feeder that your cat can view from indoors will provide them, and you, endless excitement and mental stimulation. Cats have been known to “chatter” with the birds as they bird watch. Birds will come and go, creating an ever changing engagement activity.
There is no reason why your cat, with you, can’t have fun.
