Virtual Pets are bridging the gap

The unfortunate truth is, not everyone can afford to keep a pet. This may be due to financial reasons, or because of time constraints or rules for where they live. If you love pets but can’t keep one, virtual pets are one option that will still allow you to enjoy some of the perks of pet ownership.

Furry-Paws

If you’ve ever dreamed of owning, showing, and breeding your favorite breed of dog, Furry-Paws is a great place to carry those ideas out. The game features over 200 breeds of dogs, and has a realistic genetics system that allows you to select for colors as well as health.

You can compete your dogs against others in 16 different dog sports, and see how you stack up against other players across the globe. On top of all this, the game is free to play, and easy to freeze for busy schedules.

Riding Star

If horses are more your style, Riding Star is a realistic horse SIM available on Steam. The game allows you to compete in show jumping, dressage, and cross country, as well as feed and care for your horse. Although it doesn’t have a breeding aspect to the game, it does realistically portray the effort it takes to move from a beginner novice circuit all the way to the most advanced levels.

Wajas

The beauty of having an online pet is that it doesn’t have to be a real animal. Wajas are wolf like creatures that can mutate into beautiful creatures. Wajas have an abundance of colors, and can have other features such as horns and wings.

Although it is a fantasy animal, they still need regular care which simulates keeping pets perfectly.

Not everyone is in a place where they can keep a real animal. Especially with the uncertainty in the economy, people may not be able to keep pets for a variety of reasons, which is why virtual ones can be so appealing. If you miss having a creature to take care of, these virtual pets can get you through.

Note:

I’ve played all these games before, but currently play Furry Paws. :) I’d love it if you used my referal link to the game: http://www.furry-paws.com/main/index/1444528  but of course I’d never add it in myself.
