Tips for keeping your furry friends hydrated

Maintaining your pet's hydration is crucial for maintaining their health. During the heat, it is even more crucial.

1.    Numerous water bowls

Cats, dogs and other pets will have plenty of opportunities to stay hydrated if there are plenty of water dishes set up around the house and garden.

Putting bowls in unusual or novel places can help catch their attention and entice them to drink. Your pet will feel more confident about stopping for a drink if you put them in locations with less animal or human traffic. Cats are drawn to the water tension on top, so make sure you fill it all the way up when using unconventional water containers, like a plastic cup or mug, to encourage cats to drink.

2.    Running water:

Considering that standing water seems warmer than running water, experimenting with automatic water fountains might be a terrific approach to stimulate and urge your pet to drink. You'll need to be patient because cats in particular could take some time to drink from a fountain.

Some cats enjoy drinking from the bathroom faucets; if engaging them makes them drink more, it's worth it. As an alternative, slowly introduce them to a garden tap or hose.

3.    Wetting down dried foods

If your pet consumes largely dry food, you might try adding a tiny bit of water to it to boost their water consumption. Many pets also like the texture variation. It's crucial to provide the extra liquids gradually because your pet can become agitated if you add it all at once. Never leave wet food out in the heat and always remember to completely wipe the bowl once they've finished.

4.    Provide dishes and bottles to rabbits

Giving pet rabbits a sipper bottle and a large water bowl is always a smart idea.

The majority of rabbits will have their own preferences, however bowls and bottles can tip over. Giving them both will guarantee that they always have water, especially during their run.

5.    Pet lollies

A fun idea to give your pet extra water and keep them cool in the heat is to freeze pet-friendly ice lollipops. A tiny amount of wet food and water, or a mixed apple and banana, should be added to an ice-lollie mold before freezing it overnight..

It's crucial to keep an eye on your pet to prevent them from biting the lollipops, as doing so could harm their teeth and provide a choking hazard. Because of this, we advise against giving your pet ice cubes unless they are under close supervision.

You shouldn't feed your rabbit frozen goodies because doing so could disturb their digestive system and cause gut stasis.

6.    Add a tasty component

You may get your rabbit to drink from their water bottle by rubbing something tasty and bunny-friendly, such a small slice of banana, on the spout.

For rabbits who are ill or recovering from surgery, this can be especially helpful.
