5 places to take your pet this summer

With the heat of summer looming just overhead, it’s time to start thinking about all of the fun things that you can do with your pet! Springtime is ideal for hiking and strolling through local parks, but pending your pets’ preferences and where you live, you may want to consider some smaller adventures during the hot summer months! Check out these exciting locations that are ideal for you and your pet to stay cool and enjoy the summer fun!

Hit the waves!

There’s nothing like a day trip (or even a week-long trip!) to the beach. Sitting with your toes in the sand, shaded by a beach umbrella and munching on some fresh topical fruit, sound incredible, doesn’t it? I’ll bet your dog would think so to. Better yet, find a dog-friendly beach and let your pup run along the water with you or lounge around belly-up and get a fur-tan! Even if your dog isn’t a big fan of water, they can still enjoy the cool sand on their paws and snagging some fruit from your plate when you aren’t looking!

Enjoy the lakeside views

For pets who aren’t big swimmers, there’s always the option of renting a little pontoon boat and heading out on the lake for the day! There are lakes all over the US that allow for pets to join the party and even swim in the lakes with you if desired. Your pet will love getting to lounge around on the boat, barking at the waves, saying hi to people passing by in their innertubes, or just lying in the shade while everyone else gets sunburn!

Give your pup a vacation

Book a stay at a dog-friendly hotel for a weekend! There are numerous pet-oriented (not just pet-friendly) hotels that would love to meet your pooch! Do a little research and shoot for the hotels that provide for your pooch what they would provide for their human guests. There are many pet hotels that provide gourmet meals for your pets, doggy play areas, and even little bags of treats for munching!

Check out some museums

Most doggos love to go for walks in areas they’ve never been before. They love that thrill of smelling new scents and seeing something a little different than their usual walk around the neighborhood! Seeing as it gets a little hot in the summer, it may be best to try and frequent some local museums instead of going for a long hike through the mountains! Many museums are pet friendly and your pup will appreciate the AC!

Go for a road trip

There is no better feeling than embarking on a new and exciting adventure with your canine companion by your side! Consider taking an impromptu road trip this summer that allows you to be in the AC but maybe stop along the road here and there for some photo-ops or explore some new areas!

If driving isn’t your forte, you can always hop on a train or a bus and travel via public transportation! Your pup doesn’t usually have a preference.
