Why our cat is loving SmartCat All Natural Clumping Cat Litter

If you’ve been seeking the perfect cat litter then you may be searching for a long time. Not only do you want the perfect litter for your cat, but you also want cat litter that decreases the stinky cat smells, and is easy for you to scoop and maintain. There are several cat litter options in your local stores, and tons more when you shop online. It can be difficult trying to buy cat litter without having a chance to see or touch it.

We’ve made your search simple with our review of SmartCat All Natural Clumping Cat Litter.

What Is SmartCat Litter?

SmartCat litter is made from al-natural grass. It is naturally clumping, which is the type most preferred by cat owners. It makes scooping much easier in the box. Its logo features a cat wearing a graduation outfit and giving the “all paws up”. This cat litter promises to out-clump clay-based cat litter. While it won’t hide the smell of a stimky (cat language for feces), it will mask the strong smell of cat urine. Their motto is “No Smell Can’t Tell”.  It can be purchased in  5 lb, 10 lb, or 20 lb bags.

Who Manufactures SmartCat Litter?

This cat litter is made by Pioneer Pet. This company was started by a woman in the last 1990s. Betsy Lipscomb wanted to solve the problem of why people give up their cats. Often it’s because they don’t understand cat behavior, or how to solve a problem. People often buy cat products for themselves, not their cats. They have a major product line, but their most notable is the SmartCat Litter, to solve the main issues that cat owners complain about in their home.

What Are the Ingredients?

The ingredients are made from 100% natural grass. This litter is biodegradable (in the landfills), 99.9% dust free, non-GMO, and fragrance-free. Betsy wanted a cat litter that was a healthier alternative to the other cat litters on the market today. They also have a corn and wheat alternative too.

Why Is SmartCat Better Than Other Types?

There are many other options for cat litter. The clay-based litters have been proven to cause intestinal blockages in cats, as cats lick their paws clean after using the litter box. Likewise, the baking soda types may cause issues with some cats too. There are some cat litters that consist of hard sharp pellets made from paper or clay. I doubt you’d want to walk over that, so why should your cat? The crystals are helpful if you need a urine test to determine an infection, but again, they are too hard for your cat to walk on 365 days a year. Other types of cat litter, such as coconut, may be wonderfully soft for your cat’s paws, but they will also cause a mess all over the floor. While you can’t keep all of the cat litter inside the box, the SmartCat is made from small grassy sand. It’s easily cleaned from the floor with a small mini-vac or dustpan and mini broom.

Healthy Reasons to Buy Smart Cat Litter

Besides the reasons listed above as to why to stop buying clay-based or baking-soda cat litter, SmartCat is safe for your cat. If they lick their paws and ingest a few bits of sand, it won’t harm them, as grass is safe for your cat. Corn and wheat can be good natural alternatives, but a high proportion of humans are allergic to wheat or corn, and it’s not good breathing in the dust particles. Cats can also suffer from these allergies. While a cat could still be allergic to grass, it’s uncommon. If you want to skip the allergy-worry, then buy the SmartCat grass litter first. Not only will there not be any grass particles floating through the air, but there will not be any unpleasant smells either. This cat litter is fragrance-free and scent-free too.

How to Use SmartCat Litter

Wash and sterilize your cat’s litter box with water and vinegar, then give it a good rinse and dry. Pour the SmartCat litter into their box. Fill up about halfway. You can top it up during the week as required. I recommend that your cat’s box is scooped immediately after they use it. Keeping it in the bathroom is handy, as you can do that after your own bathroom visit. Some cities do not like cat waste scooped into the toilet, however, human waste is more dangerous to us, so take that advice as you wish. The SmartCat litter starts to fall apart when exposed to water, so it is flushable.

How I Personally Feel About This Cat Litter

This cat litter may be pricier than the cheap alternatives at your local big box shop but it’s worth it, as it lasts about twice as long. It can be purchased from your local pet food & supplies shop, or ordered online. My cat is extremely happy with it, and always uses her litter box, which makes me happy too!
