What to do with your pet when you vacation
Tropical breezes or unforgettable scenery may be calling you, but if you have a pet it’s not always as easy as booking flights to go on vacation. All pets need a certain amount of care, and that means a little bit of planning when you go on vacation. Here’s what you can do.
Take your pet with you
If you own a dog or other animal that enjoys traveling, they may enjoy the trip as much as you do. If you’re planning on a trip to the beach or a cabin in the woods, it can be as simple as choosing a dog friendly venue for your vacation plans.
Hire a pet sitter
If you don’t want to take your pet with you, or perhaps own an exotic animal that won’t take well to being moved, a pet sitter in your own home is a very comfortable option for your pet. Options here can be as simple as asking a neighbor or family member look in on them, all the way up to hiring a professional sitter.
Board your pet
Another common option is to board your pet while you are gone. There are entire pet resorts devoted to making sure your dog or cat has a great time while you are gone. If you don’t have a pet resort nearby, most vets also offer boarding.
Vets are often the ideal choice if your pet has medical issues, or needs other special care a normal boarding facility may not be able to handle.
Vacations are always fun for humans, and with careful consideration they can be fun for pets too. Make sure your pet is as happy as you are the next time you make plans for a relaxing vacation.
