Three ways to improve your relationships

We'd all love to have better connections with our partners, friends, and family. These tips can help you improve all of your relationships.

Be your own best friend

When you think about what a best friend should be, you tend to think of lots of features that you value in a person. Someone who always has your back, who understands your flaws, and accepts you for who you are. These are great things to have as a friend, but more importantly you should at the very minimum do these things for yourself.

Set relationship goals

It's easy to jump headfirst into a relationship without thinking about what you want out of it, but this can lead to disappointment. It helps to know what you're looking for in a man, and not to compromise when you're searching for it. This also goes for relationships with friends and family too, from coming to terms with your mother-in-law, to making it a point of calling the friends you've lost touch with, to booking date night with your spouse.

Put as much effort into your relationships as you do into your work

You wouldn't dream of missing a deadline at work, so why do you constantly put your relationship on the backburner? Most of us value our family and friends over work, but we don't always show it. It's much easier to put off date night with our partner, who will likely be more understanding, than put off extra work from our boss. While it is true our boss will probably be more understanding, you won't get the same joy out of spending that time than you would with your family. Treating your relationships seriously will greatly improve your mental health, as well as the people in your circle.

Relationships are vital to good health. Keep yours in the best possible shape by giving yourself and the people you love the attention they deserve.
