Who is Yuri Suzuki?

Yuri is a 22-year-old who founded the Animal Rights Centre Students which is a student group of the Animal Rights Center in Japan. In addition to this group, Yuri also works in corporate relations for farmed animal welfare. The group is open to middle school, high school, and college students who are looking to help the farm animal movement. Yuri and her team lead a lot of outreach work such as leafleting on surrounding campuses, and they do a lot of work with their community. This group aims to expand its network and encourage people throughout Japan to join animal rights activism.

What does she do?

Yuri works with a group of people to speak to their surrounding communities and encourage people to join their movement. Yuri became aware of what happens to farm animals, and she wants everyone else to know so they’ll join her.

She works with study groups and attends a lot of vegan and vegetarian social events to promote her group and bring awareness to people. She works hard to make her movement heard so more people will hop onto her train and drive into the world of being vegan or vegetarian.

Why did she start this movement?

“I first came to learn about the suffering of animals when I was studying abroad in California where I met so many vegetarians and vegans. After I returned to Japan, I was shocked by how little people knew what was going on in the farming industry. There are so many clubs and groups on my school campus, but none of them were focusing on animals’ rights and welfare, and I thought there should be.” Stated Yuri in a recent interview.

Yuri makes a great point – nobody actually knows what happens on our farms throughout the world, and if we did, we would be mortified and there would be a lot more vegans and vegetarians in the world.

We need to do what we can to help our animals so we can give them the lives they deserve and in turn help our planet become a better, healthier place.
